Is it just the daytona color, black/white seats, rims, carbon fiber, and that small badge ? Dont' see much of a difference for a coupe of thousand bucks more. Maybe Audi just wants a swansong for the outgoing V8.

They are Audi exclusive floor mats you can order them in other countries for the S5 with the leather matching your interior color. Not sure you can get them in the US tho.

This is one PISS POOR attempt by Audi to say adios to the S5... seriously I could have done a better job with a pack of crayons and a 6 pack. Look at one BMW does, this isnt worth that extra money, I mean damn talk about using up bits in the parts bin... I was expecting something a little more than that, sports exhaust system, modded suspension, perhaps a slight tune.. anything, but what I see is a total load of BS for that kind of money... not impressed the slightest.

Not to contradict myself or anything, I know the S5 is a cruiser and not intended to be a 335is, but if you look at what BMW did with the 335is model, they looked at what the market has been doing to its cars.. and thus responded with one quality package, and that ltd edition is a great example.. same goes with the special edition M3's etc... it keeps the imagination alive and supports the manufacturer commitment to motorsport, which when you look at Audi is massive!

I just picked up a 2012 S4 because the 2012 S5 was the same as my 2008 S5. Got scared that I missed something when I saw this. I can't see that I missed anything.

Now I'll just drive the S4, which is a blast, until they do something cool in a couple of years.

Actually, the instrumentation of the S4 is identical to the S5. I do miss the V8 sound though.

Doesn't really look as 'special' as you would expect, crazy money considering North America will be getting the facelift in 12 months.

For that kind of money you could get an A7, or close to a M3 or a C63. Seems too high with no performance improvements.

I agree. Not seeing anything that is truly exclusive to this model. Respect this model Audi!

Is that picture of your monsoon gray s5? I am torn between the monsoon, daytona, or glacier white?

Well...how can we not all love the shined-up Daytona Gray. But, check out Youtube for the _Chrome_ S5. Kid you not.
Still love my ancient V8 '08 and not ready to give it up.

I visited an Audi dealer this weekend while visiting Denver and they have one of the special editions sitting on the showroom floor.

They have a gorgeous loaded Brilliant Red S5 Cab. I am so tempted.

Hi Folks, guess I am one of the 125 crazies (less kind words mentioned above) that plucked down the extra bucks for the Special Edition. It is my first Audi and I have always been a sucker for limited production models. Far as I know it was about $5k over a fully equipped Prestige model. My understanding is that the Daytona Gray paint was worth about $ 2500 of the mark up. The paint is fillled with red, green and gold highlights and looks spectacular under bright sunlight. It does have the Sports rear and B&O sound. I paid no where near msrp so the few bucks more for a more exclusive model was not a big deal.

I did actually go with the intention of buying an A7 but the feel and performance was boring. Performance did not match the looks. Maybe should have held out for an S7 but there's always a next time.

Glad to be on board.
